Nathan H. SCOTT, 83, of Whitesville NY, died Monday, April 3, 2023 in Highland Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Wellsville.
Born June 28, 1939, in Cuba, he was the son of William R. and Vivian J. Smith Scott. On January 9, 1998, in Las Vegas, NV, he married the former Vickie L. Bledsoe, who survives.
He attended Belmont High School, but left during his senior year to join the US Army. A Vietnam Veteran, he served honorably from 1960 – 1963.
He was employed by Worthington Corp. (Siemens), working in numerous positions and retiring after 37 years in June 2002. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists Local #1580. Nate was a life member of Morrison Hayes American Legion Post #702 in Wellsville, where he was Post Commander from 2005-2014. He was honored to be presented with the 2017 Morrison Hayes Post #702 American Legion Commander Award. He was a member of Morrison Hayes Post #702 American Legion Honor Guard, charter member of Post #702 American Legion Riders and in 2020 Vickie and Nate were presented with a charter plaque. Nate spent many years and hours volunteering at Morrison Hayes American Legion Post #702 in Wellsville and performed many services with the honor guard and Post #702 American Legion Riders.
He was a Life Member of Frank B. Church VFW Post #2530 in Wellsviille, member of Moose Lodge #601 in Wellsville, 40 & 8 Member La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux, and one of the founders of the Dalton Gang Sportsman Club in Dalton, NY.
While he was in good health, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling, softball, soccer, basketball, puttering in his garage, growing tomatoes and gardening, mowing lawn, but most importantly spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watching them play in any sport.
His service dogs, Hutch and Quinn, dearly loved him and were always with him. In years past, he enjoyed weekend and vacation camping trips with family and close friends. He was an avid Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan for years. He enjoyed NASCAR and traveled to several races with Vickie and friends, Bob and Lynn Manning.
Surviving besides his wife, Vickie, are: a son, Todd N. (Sue) Scott of Wellsville; two step-children, Michael (Lisa) Graves of Weatherford, TX and Jonathan (Amy) Thomas of Bolivar, NY; six grandchildren, Jacob (Estefanie) Scott, Hannah (Matt Graves) Scott, Jericka (Colton Cicutto) Graves, Sierra (Joshua Dickerman) Graves, Kori Thomas, and Jayna Thomas; a great-grandson, Nolan Michael Graves; a great-granddaughter, Phyllis Minerva Scott; siblings, Polly Abbott of Belfast, LeRoy (Mary) Scott of Wellsville, Bertha “Birdie” Perham of Hunt, and Kathleen Little of Belfast; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and too numerous to mention members of American Legion Post #702 family and friends. Also, his faithful companion, Quinn, as of June 5, 2019.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Robert “Stub” Scott; two sisters, Betty Ferrin and Sophia Barton; a sister-in-law, Marjorie (Bledsoe) Erdmann; a brother-in-law, Eugene Little; and Service Dog, Hutch.

Family and friends are invited to a gathering at Morrison Hayes American Legion Post #702 in Wellsville on Saturday, May 6, 2023 starting at 4:00 PM. Military Rites will be accorded by members of Morrison B. Hayes American Legion Post #702 and active duty personnel from the U.S. Army.
