Nancy L. Dougherty, 91, of Coudersport, formerly of Port Allegany

Port Allegany – Nancy L. Dougherty, 91, of Coudersport, formerly of Port Allegany, passed away Saturday (October 18, 2025) at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport. She was born June 29, 1934 in Lancaster, PA, the daughter of Willis and Grace (Sheap) Deim. She married Robert Emmet Dougherty on April 4, 1959 at The United Brethren Evangelical Church in New Holland PA.
In 1974 she, her husband and daughter moved to Port Allegany. She worked in Elliot’s bakery a few years after moving into Port Allegany. Nancy also worked as a cleaning lady for many families over the years. She also worked for the Canoe Place Inn for several years.
As a faithful person, she was a member of the Birch Grove Mennonite Church of Port Allegany. And also a member of Moose Lodge #460 of Port Allegany, and the Star Hose Co. Women’s Auxiliary of Port Allegany.
Before becoming a resident at Sweden Valley Manor, Nancy enjoyed decorating her home for the Holidays. She also enjoyed baking with her grandkids. She was a plant lover and was known for her green thumb! She loved collecting chicken figures. It would bring her great joy when she was gifted one from family or friends!
For hobbies she enjoyed a quiet evening embroidering which she passed these skills to some of her granddaughters! But as she got older she wasn’t able to do this so in turn came to love coloring books and doing word search books. When her grandkids came to visit her, they would spend time coloring together!
Nancy loved her family and was always so happy when she got to see them!

Grandchildren: Jennifer (Michael) Beeson, Jeffery Hurd, Kimberly (David) Champlin, Crystal Hurd, Kavin Hurd, and Amber Hurd
Great grandchildren: Caleb, Thomas, Kristopher, Kelsey, Savannah, Annabelle, Finnigan, Robert, Jr., Natalie, and Carver
One sister: Paulette Palmer of New Holland, PA and several nieces and nephews
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents. In addition, her two brothers Terry Lee Diem and Willis Roy Diem, two sisters Mary Grace Diem and Reba Mae Diem. Also her husband Robert.
Family and Friends are invited to her Visitation which will be held on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, from 10-11 AM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., 105 Main St., Port Allegany, where a memorial service will begin at 11AM, with the Rev. Dale Detweiler, pastor of the Birch Grove Mennonite Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evangelical United Methodist Cemetery, New Holland, PA.
