Nancy Ellen Campbell MacDonell, 95, of Bolivar, NY passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023 after a lengthy illness. 

Nancy was born May 23, 1928 in the Cuba hospital, Cuba, New York and was a daughter of late Edward M. and Kathryn Elizabeth Sherwood Campbell.

Nancy married Robert Malcolm MacDonell on November 15, 1947.  They were married 65 years when Bob passed away on June 18, 2013

Nancy was a graduate of Bolivar Central Schools Class of 1946.  She then attended Alfred University.

She enjoyed working in retail for over 30 years and was an election inspector for the Town and Village of Bolivar for over 30 years.

Nancy enjoyed spending time with her boys, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She always enjoyed family Christmas and other family gatherings very much. Nancy enjoyed playing bridge in several clubs and other card games with friends and was an expert genealogist.

Nancy will be greatly missed by her family and friends

She is survived by her two sons, Scott (Vivian Ryan) MacDonell and Craig MacDonell, and beloved sister Barbara Ann Campbell Hollis

Nancy was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Christa (Sean), MacDonell, Socha Robert (Tracy) MacDonell, James (Nichole Weber) MacDonell and Alyn (Stephanie) MacDonell.

10 great-grandchildren, Nathan MacDonell, Ryan MacDonell, Brandon MacDonell, Sydney Socha, Sarah Socha, Aidan MacDonell, Alexander MacDonell, Phillip MacDonell, Camdyn MacDonell, and Tavyn MacDonell. 

She also had an unofficial adopted son, Bob Dunbar who lived with the MacDonell’s his Junior and Senior year during the school year so he could play football and wrestle which weren’t offered in Richburg at that time.

Friends may call at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 554 S. Main Street Bolivar, on Saturday, December 30, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 at which time a Memorial Service will be held.  Rev. David Herne will officiate.
