Mrs. Mikell R. Haskins, 85, a longtime resident of Coudersport, passed away on Thursday December 12, 2024, at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born on Sunday, July 2, 1939 in Buffalo, NY, she was a daughter of Robert and Winifred Kelly Quimby. On December 31, 1960 in Coudersport, she married Paul S. Haskins, who passed away on May 15, 2018.
Mikell graduated from high school in Kenmore, NY. She was a preschool teacher at the Park United Methodist Church.
She was lovingly called Miss Mikell by her friends. Mikell was a member of the Sweden Valley United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Coudersport Volunteer Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Potter County Historical Society in Coudersport, and a member of Volunteers That Care in Coudersport. Mikell had a kind and giving heart and when facing her own health challenges, she would still help anyone that she could. She loved crafting, crocheting, and also loved to play the drums. She loved to dance and enjoyed music. She also loved to go camping. Her greatest love was her family.
Left to cherish her memory are four children, Kelly M. Burdick of Albion, NY, Susan L. (Ray) Lawrence of Roulette, Patrick J. (Barbie) Haskins of Coudersport, and Tim P. (Shelli) Haskins of Coudersport; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Stephen (Lou) Quimby of Kenmore, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mikell was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Skretney; and a son-in-law, Dan Burdick.
A celebration of Mikell’s life will be held in the Spring of 2025 at a place and date to be announced.
In lieu flowers, memorials in Mikell’s name can be made to Volunteers That Care, PO Box 750, Coudersport, PA 16915.
