Migonette A. “Midge” Houghtaling, 67, of Coudersport, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, January 8, 2023 at UPMC – Cole. She was born on May 16, 1955 in Saint Marys, the daughter of the late Frederick “Boots” and Loretta (Hixon) Forsythe. Midge married Timothy E. Houghtaling on December 29, 1990 and recently celebrated their 32 wedding anniversary.
Midge was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1973. She worked many years for Adelphia and worked as a paralegal for many attorneys in the Coudersport area.
Midge was a faithful member of the Gospel Tabernacle, Coudersport. She was a gifted artist, loved doing arts and crafts, and was a talented writer. She had written many articles and songs and also enjoyed playing guitar and singing. Midge also loved to bake. She used her baking skills at Jack’s Bakery, the Gospel Tabernacles Conventions, and for family and friends in the area.
In addition to her husband Tim, Midge is survived by six sons, Ray (Jamie Fetzer) Morales of Coudersport; Ken (Beth) Morales of Winter Garden, FL; Mark Morales of Davidson, MI; Chris Houghtaling of Roulette; Justin (Elena) Houghtaling of Springfield, IL; Travis (Brenda) Houghtaling of Detroit, MI; a daughter, Shana (Corey) Jean of Montgomery; 14 grandchildren, Jeri, Keelin, Mikayla, Wyatt, Xander, Kloie, Keyaira, Emera, Ayrelle, Laconic, Bryson, Emmy, Temperance, Averyania, and 2 great grandchildren, Desmond and Ana Marie. In addition to her parents, Midge was preceded in death by a brother, Fredrick Forsythe and two sisters, Rose Mae Whitt and Gloria Jean Forsythe.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 12 to 1pm at the Gospel Tabernacle, 420 US Route 6 West, Coudersport. A funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor John Minor, officiating.
The family suggest memorial contributions in Midge’s name be made to the Gospel Tabernacle.
