Michelle Lin “Mickey” Swackhamer, 75, of Bradford, PA.
Michelle Lin “Mickey” Swackhamer, 75, of Bradford, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Olean General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 25, 1949, in New Martinsville, WV she was a daughter of the late John J. “Jack” and Eleanor Jane (Leap) Walker, Jr.
She attended Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, WV until 1965 before moving to Limestone, NY where she was a 1967 graduate of Limestone High School. She graduated top of her class from Olean Business Institute in 1968.
On April 11, 1970, in St. Patrick Church, Limestone, NY, she married Daniel J. Swackhamer, who preceded her in death on July 6, 1989.
Mickey worked for the YWCA as a Legal Advocate for 33 years and most recently as a Systems and Training liaison for the last two.
She was a member of and served as a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church and taught second grade Catechism at St. Francis Church. She was a member of the Seneca Law Enforcement Agency and was a respected member of the Women’s Bowling League at Byllye Lanes. Her claim to fame was the “Girl Scout Cookie Queen”. and band mom to the Fort LeBoeuf marching band in Waterford and the Bradford Marching Owls.
Surviving are two daughters, Amy J. (John) Bednez, and Lisa Lin (John) Fedak, one sister, Shelley (Jerry) Harvey, all of Bradford, four grandchildren, John Daniel Fedak, Kaitlin Ann (Tristan Finnerty) Raught, Bailey Lin Fedak and Calley Jean Raught, six nieces, Erin (Josh) Bridge, Beth (Jason) Manwaring, Sonia (Dan) Brecht, Barb (Dave) Delozier, Danielle (Jarrod) Wilcox, and Nicole (Dan) Ricketts, six nephews, Matthew (Nancy) Reinhardt, Joe (Sara) Reinhardt, Steven (Emily) Reinhardt, David (Casey Miller) Reinhardt, Alexander (Gabby) Swackhamer, and Todd Coatsworth, in-laws, Deb Coastworth, Brad (Cindy) Swackhamer, Rod (Ricky Cheney) Swackhamer, Pam (Dan) Reinhardt, Scott Swackhamer, and Sandra Palace, longtime family friend, Marsha Abrams, several great nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Swackhamer.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 9 am to 11 am, in the First Presbyterian Church, at 11 am funeral services will be held with Rev. Katherine Randall, Co- Pastor, and Rev W. LeRoy Beckes, retired Presbyterian minister officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
