Michael J. Pontzer, 64, of Kersey, PA
Michael J. Pontzer, 64, of Kersey, PA passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 25, 2023 at his residence.
He was born October 15, 1958, in St. Marys, son of the late Mark P. and Marie J. Carino Pontzer. Michael was a lifelong resident of Kersey, a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1977, and a retired employee of Straub Brewery.
Mike is survived by two sisters: Lisa Quinn (Michael) of Erie and Melissa Pontzer (Paul Powell) of Binghamton, NY; a brother, Douglas M. Pontzer (Lynne) of Erie; five nieces and nephews: Michael Mello, Kathryn Pontzer-McLaughlin, Jacob Pontzer, Mary Quinn, and Molly Quinn; one great-niece, Miranda Mello; one great-nephew, Jackson Mello; and one great-great nephew, Dante Estrada.
Michael was a member of the St. Boniface Church, Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department, and American Legion Post 511. Mike had a big heart and was a thoughtful and caring man. He would be certain to bring a case of Straub beer to every picnic in which he attended.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Thomas More Sikora, OSB, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday morning, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.
