Mary Lou Rich, 92, of Hemlock Ave., Kane, PA
Mary Lou Rich, 92, of Hemlock Ave., Kane, PA passed away Friday (June 21) at Olean General Hospital. Born Oct. 25, 1931 in Riterville, she was the daughter of the late William and M. Orpha (Black) Miller. On Aug. 20, 1952 in Bradford, she married William Rich, who preceded her in death.
Mary Lou was a long-time member of St. Callistus Catholic Church, where she served as an organist, funeral dinner worker, greeter and former member of the Church Council. She was also a member of CD of A Court Callistus #66. She was a former member of Kane’s Church Women United, Kane Art League, Warren Art League, Chatauqua Art League and was the first legacy member of Artworks on the Summit. She volunteered for many local organizations including Meals on Wheels, Cub Scouts and Friends Memorial Library. Mary Lou enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, doing crossword puzzles, playing bingo and continued to paint all of her life.
Surviving are sons John, Steve (Linda), Paul (Sue), Tom and Dave, all of Kane; Daughter Amy Geer of Kane; grandchildren Lisa (Jared) Wojtaszek, Laurie (Fred) Tarnaski, Matt (Melissa) Rich and Andy Rich all of Kane, Tyler Geer of Las Vegas and Angie (Joe) Marett of Marienville. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Mason, Maverick, Madeline, Skyler and Myles. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Mongillo of Bradford and dozens of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Lisa, her brother Don and his wife Pauline, her sister Dorothy and her husband Bob, sisters-in-law Elizabeth Zetts and Martha “Dody” Hipchen and brothers-in-law, Bud and Tom Rich.
Friends are invited to attend a visitation at the Cummings Funeral Home on Tuesday (June 25) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, (June 26) at St. Callistus Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. William O’Brien as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.
