Marian J. Butler, 76, Broad Acres Nursing home in Wellsboro
Marian J. Butler, 76, died on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Broad Acres Nursing home in Wellsboro. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver P. Butler.
Marian was the daughter of Abe and Christine Brugger of Westfield, and was the youngest of 3 girls. She is survived by her 3 children: Scott and Linda Butler of Ellicottville, NY, Amanda and Christopher Bradley of Dillsburg; and Jason and Coleen Butler of Wellsboro; her two sisters: Velma Malecki of Cleveland, OH and Ester Ansell of Wellsboro; and her 7 grandchildren: Brooke and Bryce Butler; Jake and Sarah Bradley; Case, Cole and Violet Butler.
Marian was a graduate of Cowanesque Valley High School. She received her BS in Home Economics from Penn State University. She married Oliver on August 21, 1965.
Marian was a dairy farmer and owner of Pag-Omar Farms Market. It is her salad recipes that have become the hallmark of the market. Her passion for farming was evident when she became the 1st female board member of the DHIA (Dairy Herd Improvement Association) in Tioga County and then served at the state level as a board member for DHIA. She was the County Auditor for several years, a member of the Red Hat Society and a member of The Canyon Dreamers investment club. She loved to quilt, put together puzzles, do the daily crossword and watch the birds at her feeders. Her family was always in her heart and she was happiest when she was with her family playing board games.
A memorial celebration will be held at the convenience of the family.
