Linda Lee (Cenni) Giovanini, of 805 Stonehedge Meadows Drive, Ridgway, PA
Linda Lee (Cenni) Giovanini, of 805 Stonehedge Meadows Drive, Ridgway, PA died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, January 17 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born on March 1, 1948, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Ray and Emma Castagnari Cenni.
On June 27, 1970, she married the love of her life, David Giovanini, who survives.
Linda was a graduate of Ridgway High School Class of 1966, where she was Snowball Queen. She was employed by the US Postal Service for 20 years, serving as a clerk in Kersey, PA. She was a volunteer in the community donating her time with the March of Dimes, Meals on Wheels, and as a ticket taker and usher at Penn State Football games. She was always eager to help friends and family. She had an enthusiastic smile that would light up any room.
Linda was fully dedicated to her family and her faith. She was a wonderful mother who loved spending time with her husband, sisters, children and grandchildren, and would jump at the opportunity to visit and spend time with them. She never missed an opportunity to cheer on her kids and grandchildren at their sporting events.
Linda was a fighter, who overcame many challenges, and this was evident all the way to the end. She was extremely active and physically fit, which we can attribute to her longevity even with her illness. She enjoyed working out at the YMCA up until she was no longer able. Linda was always willing to participate with her grandchildren, whether shagging balls, running the bases, playing catch, or kicking the ball around.
Linda was a fabulous cook, making and sharing Italian favorites with recipes handed down through the generations. She had an artistic side that was apparent through her love of decorating and painting. Her home is filled with these keepsakes which serve as a reminder of her talents. We will forever miss her special touches that added such warmth to our homes.
She also enjoyed spending a couple of months a year in Lauderdale by-the-Sea, Florida. For 8 years prior to the pandemic Dave and Linda spent every January & February in Florida, which they fondly referred to as their “Happy Place”. It was an opportunity to escape the cold, meet a lot of new friends, enjoy long walks and full days on the beach, and enjoy fantastic meals. It was also a great opportunity for her kids and grandchildren to visit, which they took full advantage of.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, David , a daughter, Christa Fritz and her husband Jason of Bath, PA, a son, Tony Giovanini and his wife Tracey (Mann) of Pittsburgh, 3 grandchildren: Emma Fritz, Robert Fritz, and Luca Giovanini. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Rose Marie DePanfilis and her husband JoJo and Frances Roof and her late husband Vernon “Buddy” Roof, sister-in-law, Judy (Giovanini) Mitcheltree and her husband Ted, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and brother-in-law, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexa Fritz.
