Linda Ann Ayers, 68, of Port Allegany, PA

Linda Ann Ayers, 68, of Port Allegany, passed away unexpectedly Saturday (March 7, 2026) at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 17, 1957 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Edwin A. and Genevieve B. (Lewis) Archer. On May 24, 1975, in Smethport, PA, she married William Duane “Pete” Ayers, who survives.
Mrs. Ayers was a graduate of Port Allegany High School Class of 1975 and worked several jobs over the years. She had worked at the Ideal in Port Allegany, worked as a house keeper at the Canoe Place Inn of Port Allegany, and lastly worked as a hostess at the Daily Bread Café in Port.
Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved camping and entertaining children in the campgrounds by hiding coins in the sandboxes and letting them find them as treasure. She was known at camp as the “Candy Lady”. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband Pete, she is survived by:
Two sons: William D. “Petey” (Tina) Ayers, Jr. and Michael O. Ayers, both of Port Allegany
Two grandchildren: Trey Austin Ayers and Kendra Jayde Ayers
One brother: Rick (Deb) Archer of Roulette
several nieces and nephews,
special friends: Walker Smithmyer and Anthony Wiley Sr., for always being there for her. They had a special place in her heart, along with her dog, “Coletrain”
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by a sister, Deb DuBois, and two brothers, James Archer and Edwin A. Archer, Jr.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from noon to 5pm at the Veteran’s Memorial Home, Route 155, Port Allegany.
