Leah J. Schneider

1945 – 2024

Hinsdale – Leah J. (Smith) Schneider of 3088 Route 16 N passed away November 16th, 2024 at Olean General Hospital. Born March 31, 1945 in Corning, NY; she was the daughter of William B. & Catherine M. (Ellis) Williams.

Leah had various jobs as a hospitality aide as well as a home health aide for several years.

She was an avid bingo player.  One of her true passions was to decorate for every holiday.  She is a lifetime member of the Eldred Township Firemen’s Auxiliary.

Surviving are a daughter, Alice (Karl) Hackett of Bolivar NY; a son, Henry (Tracie) Lewis of Marianna FL. Also surviving are four sisters, Hazel Bair of Eldred PA, Elaine (Cora) Corey of Niagara Falls NY, Marjory Haymaker of Eldred PA and Lila France of Franklinville NY as well as one brother William (Billy) Williams of Eldred PA.  In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Amanda Hackett-Thomas, Rodney Lewis, Heidi Hostrander, Karl Hackett II, Chelsea Dunham, Brian Lewis and Katie Broughton and several great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lucius Smith.  Furthermore, she was proceeded in death by an infant daughter, a son Stanley Lewis, a daughter Cheryl Hostrander.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
