LAST WELLSBORO GROWERS MARKET IS THIS THURSDAY, OCT. 19
Gary and Cheryl Keeney will be bringing pumpkins, gourds and winter squash to this Thursday’s Wellsboro Growers Market.
The last Wellsboro Growers Market for 2023 will be open this Thursday Oct. 19 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the First Presbyterian Church at 130 Main Street in Wellsboro, next to the Green Free Library, weather permitting.
Among those who will be at the Oct. 19 market are Liz McLelland of Yorkshire Meadows, Linda Sweely of New View Farm, Kathy Siegrist of Bakery 303, Staggering Unicorn, which specializes in fruit wines and a variety of wine slushies, and Gary and Cheryl Keeney with fresh produce.
McLelland is bringing knitted items and her apple dumplings, lemon and lime curd, scones, assorted cookies, including shortbread, caramel shortbread and lemon bars, jams and other delights.
Staggering Unicorn will have new wines to try like spice orange and favorites, such as basil, pineapple-strawberry, pumpkin spice and mojito wines and peach and mulberry slushies.
New View Farm is bringing artisan breads, focaccia, Naan bread, bagels (plain, cinnamon raisin and everything), jams and jellies, homemade sauerkraut, sprouts, ground horseradish and Boston cream cupcakes.
At Bakery 303 will be a variety of pound cakes, including serious chocolate, gluten-free serious chocolate, peach, lemon, lemon-blueberry, coconut and blueberry-cranberry.
Gary and Cheryl Keeney will have winter squash, eggplant, potatoes (Yukon, blue and red), lots of pumpkins and gourds and, if there isn’t a frost, sweet and hot peppers, all from the Keeney Farm.
The Growers Market is a rain or shine event. “When there are rain showers, we stay outside under the trees. If there is a downpour or constant, heavy rain, the market will be canceled,” said Jeff Berry.
