Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative in McKean County to Operate Two Deer Check Stations on Saturday, 12/6

Hunters Have Opportunity for Popular Buck and Doe Raffle
Bradford, Pa.: The Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative (KQDC) announces that they will have their two deer check stations operating on Saturday, 12/6, from 10 am until 6 pm. Hunters are encouraged to bring in their deer to learn all the information about their deer. The two check stations are on SR 59 at the John Perkins parking lot in Marshburg and at the Willows Restaurant parking lot on SR 346 west of Bradford.
The KQDC will once again offer their popular buck and antlerless deer raffle at their TWO DEER CHECK STATIONS. Each hunter bringing in a deer for checking will also receive a ticket on a cash raffle. Hunters bringing in antlerless deer will be eligible for a $500 raffle. Hunters bringing in an antlered deer will be eligible for a $250 raffle.
The KQDC still has a few DMAP (Deer Management Assistance Program) coupons available within their three DMAP units in northern Pennsylvania, mostly in McKean County. Managing the antlerless deer through harvest within a deer population is the best way to keep overall health of the entire deer herd at a high level. The KQDC has three DMAP units:
DMAP unit 1981 – north of SR 59 to the New York border and consisting of lands managed by the Allegheny NF;
DMAP unit 1996 – north of SR 770 to the New York border and consisting of lands managed by Bradford Watershed Authority and Collins Pine Company; and
DMAP unit 135 – south of SR 59 and east of SR 321 down to Red Bridge and consisting of lands managed by Conservation Forestry.
Permits for these coupons for these three DMAP units can be purchased from the PGC website.
These DMAP permits can be used in ANY deer season with approved firearms or archery equipment. Furthermore, holders of DMAP permits can use firearms for hunting in DMAP units in the extended seasons. Quote from the PGC 2025-2026 Hunting and Trapping Digest, “The extended firearms season for antlerless deer will be open on all DMAP properties from Dece.26-Jan.24, as well as within certain WMUs (Wildlife Management Units).” NOTE: No Sundays are open to hunting during this extended season on DMAPs.
The KQDC is managed for Quality Deer and a Quality Forest Ecosystem to provide a Quality Hunting experience. Other goals are to provide quality forests for landowners to manage for timber products, local employment, numerous outdoor recreation activities, and quality habitat for all wildlife.
The Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative is an on-going demonstration, begun in 2000, of how hunting can be used to meet the goals of multiple publics for managing deer. A partnership of forest landowners, forest managers, biologists, hunters, and local businesses developed the program which relies on hunters to manage deer density on a representative forested area. The program is conducted on a 74,000-acre forested demonstration area in northwestern Pennsylvania.
