Kenneth J. Rimer, 76, Of, St. Marys, PA
Kenneth J. Rimer, 76, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, September 8, 2024 following a lengthy illness.
He was born on January 4, 1948 in St. Marys, a son of the James and Eileen Nero Rimer.
On November 21, 1970, in St. Marys Church, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Taylor Rimer, and they’ve been walking together hand in hand for more than 53 years.
Ken was a lifelong resident of the area and graduate of Elk County Christian High School, class of 1965. He served in the US Army from 1968-1970, and then retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after more than 40 years of service. Ken enjoyed reading, a good glass of wine, and his evening walks with his wife. His warm smile and caring nature endeared him to all who knew him, leaving a lasting impact on his friends and family. Known for his special version of Riverdance, Ken enjoyed laughing with friends and family, and was loved by all who knew him. He never turned down the chance to share a bowl of popcorn or a bag of Cheetos around the campfire, but most of all, he cherished his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Bonnie, he is survived by two children; Kenneth (Kelly) Rimer of Horsham, PA, and Kim (Kieran Weis) Rimer of Ridgway; and by his 6 beloved grandchildren; Brandon, Cody, Tyler, Nathan, Ainsley, and Kiersten and by one great-granddaughter Payton. He is also survived by one brother; Dana (Annette) Rimer of Pittsburgh, as well as by his mother-in-law; Betty Taylor of St. Marys, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth J. Rimer will be celebrated on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Ignatius Camello, OSB, as Celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
Family and friends will be received at the St. Marys Church on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass.
