Karl L. Lang, 91, Of, Coudersport, PA
Karl L. Lang, 91 passed away surrounded by his loving family Friday, September 6, 2024, at Charles Cole UPMC in Coudersport. He was born October 24, 1932, in St. Marys PA to John K. and Marie (Sorg) Lang. On August 18th, 1956, he married his beloved Patricia (Krug) Lang with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.
Karl is survived by his wife, Patricia Lang of Coudersport; a daughter; Bonnie (Bill) Doan of Howard PA; four sons; Charles (Alyssa) Lang of Cumming GA, Michael (Irene) Lang of Midland MI, Douglas Lang of Benton PA, Brian Lang (Brian Himes) of Kittanning PA, 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, two sisters; Elizabeth Lewis, Delores (Steve) Winarczyk; two brothers; Jack (Karen) Lang and David (Kathy) Lang. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Lang of St. Marys PA.
After graduating from St. Marys High School in 1950 Karl served in the US army for two years stationed in Germany before being honorably discharged and returning home to begin his career at Stackpole as an engineer, followed by more than 20 years as Plant Manager at Pure Carbon in Coudersport. Karl could fix just about anything you asked him to and was an avid hunter, fisherman, carpenter and self-taught property developer, but his favorite passion was flying. He was an accomplished pilot and received recognition with the “Wilber Wright Award” from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 50+ years of flying. Above all, Karl loved his wife and children, who inherited his love of the outdoors, his sense of civic duty and the importance of family.
He was a member of both St. Eulalia in Coudersport and St. Augustine in Austin PA where he was lector, usher and Eucharistic minister and served on numerous boards including Chair of the Potter County Planning Commission and Charles Cole where he helped secure the land for the additions to the hospital.
A man of many talents, Karl will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Plans for a celebration of life are still to be determined.
