Julia Joanne Fishkin, 85, of 12 Valleybrook Dr., Bradford, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 2, 2023; surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 8, 1938 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late James “Jim” and Amy Kathryn Cardy DeMuro.
She was a 1956 graduate of the Jamestown High School.
On November 17, 1956 she married Richard J. Fishkin; they later divorced in 2003.
Julia is survived by two children, David (Jan Hulings) Fishkin of Mt. Jewett and Amy (Scott) Goodman of Dillsburg; two grandchildren, Eric Fishkin of Bradford and Dr. Meghan Joanne Goodman of Dillsburg; two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
After relocating to the Bradford area, Julia worked for the Corning Company until it closed. She dedicated most of her professional career to the Waverly Group, Inc. until the company was sold and she later retired.
Twenty years ago, Julia and her beloved Golden Retriever, Abby, met David J. Nieman, who became her lifelong partner. Julia and David were an inseparable pair. They cherished the quality time they spent together and adored their Cocker Spaniel rescue dog, Murphy.
Julia’s passion in life was her amazing love for cooking. She spent hours in the kitchen perfecting old recipes and experimenting with new ones. She found happiness in entertaining her family and friends and serving a menu of flawless cuisine followed by truly magnificent desserts. Julia had a kind and generous heart. She will be missed by many, especially her beloved family.
A private memorial service will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Jamestown, NY, at the convenience of the family.
