Joy Annette Johnson Nordin, 84, of Warren, PA, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, July 21, 2024, at her residence, following a brief illness.

Joy was born October 18, 1939, in Warren, PA, the daughter of the late Vernon R. Johnson and Helen E. Tirak Gaydos Johnson.  

Joy was a 1957 graduate of Bradford High School. She was employed at New Process Company, Warren General Hospital, Loranger International, and Koebley Towing as a Dispatcher. Joy also babysat for several years for many area children who dearly referred to her as “Momma Joy.”

She was an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 45-year member of Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, the Purple Majestic Red Hat Society, and in the doll club for many years. Joy loved doing digital puzzles and games, reading and creating poems, cooking, and enjoyed a good cup of coffee and conversation. She cherished her family and friends, especially watching her grandchildren in their many activities through the years. Her number of friends was a testament to her loving and generous spirit.

Joy is survived by three sons Myron L. Nordin and wife Pamela of Scandia, PA, Matthew B. Nordin and wife Susan of Warren, PA, and Michael W. Nordin and wife Tricia of Warren, PA. A brother Robert Johnson(Judy) of Sheffield, PA; sisters-in-law, Karen Johnson of Warren, PA, Marilyn Larson of Lexington, KY, and Yvonne Nordin of Lancaster, PA; seven grandchildren, Justin Nordin and wife Jenny of Fullerton, CA, Daniel Nordin of Lewis Run, PA, Joshua Nordin and wife Jennifer of Russell, PA, Danielle Guiffre and husband Tony of Syracuse, NY, Alyssa Geras and husband Tony of Orchard Park, NY, Austin Nordin(Sarah) of Rochester NH, and Abigayle Joy Nordin of Warren, PA; ten great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine, and Jonah Nordin of Fullerton, CA, Layla Nordin of Russell, PA, Eliana and Freyja Nordin of Rochester, NH, Gwendolyn and Laurel Joy Guiffre of Syracuse, NY, Jack and Riley Geras of Orchard Park, NY; and one step great grandson Walter McAuliffe of Rochester, NH.

In addition to her parents Joy was preceded in death by her husband William O. Nordin who passed November 29, 2016, whom she married August 20, 1959, at the First Lutheran Church, Warren, PA, son Mark A. Nordin, brother Roger Johnson, infant twin brother Jay Johnson, in-laws John and Cletius Nordin, as well as several brother and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and several good friends.

Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna Ave. E. Warren, PA, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 PM, and then 1 hour prior to the funeral service to be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 Pleasant Drive Warren PA, at 11:00AM Friday, July 26, 2024, with the Reverend Jeffery Ewing and Reverend Heater Allport-Cohoon, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Paws Along the River Humane Society, and Hospice of Warren County.
