Joseph Barrile, 95, of North Street, Limestone, NY passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at The Pines of Machias, in Machias, NY.
Born November 16, 1927, in Limestone, he was one of 14 children to the late Antonio and Vetta (Policastro) Barrile. He attended Limestone High School.
Joe served in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1946.
On May 15, 1948, in St. Patrick Church in Limestone, he married Mary “Isabelle” (Osborne) Barrile who died March 11, 2013.
Joe worked at Boviard & Seafang for 25 years, then opened his own plumbing business, Barrile Plumbing. He along with his son’s then started B&B Plumbing and Heating. He also owned and operated Joe’s Liquor Store in Limestone.
He was a former member of St. Patrick Church, and a current member of St. Francis Church. He was a former member of the Black Panthers Drum and Bugle Corp. He was a member of the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, Limestone Sportsman’s Club. He served as a Supervisor and Councilman for the Town of Carrolton for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Barrile, and Connie (Jim) Truby, all of Bradford,
three sons, Larry (Lorraine) Barrile, of Limestone, Alan (Tracy) Barrile, of Albion NY, and John Barrile, of Limestone, five grandchildren, Christopher, Patrick, Timothy, Katlin, and A.J., eight great grandchildren, Amaya, Dominic, Sophia, Cade, Kaylie, Terrance, Ruby, and Rio, one great-great grandson, Grayson, one sister, Vicki (Jim) Champlin, of Limestone, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Isabelle of over 65 years, one granddaughter, Jamie Lynn, six sisters, Angie Whiteman, Rose Updegrove, Mary Merritt, Jennie Reed, Grace Barrile, and Camilla Rouse, also six brothers, John, Patrick, John, Dominic, Frank, and Anthony.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, with Rev. John Jacquel, Pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Limestone.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
