John G. Fedorko, 90, a resident of Silver Creek Terrace and formerly of 128 Laurel Lane, Kersey, PA
John G. Fedorko, 90, a resident of Silver Creek Terrace and formerly of 128 Laurel Lane, Kersey, PA passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Penn Highlands Elk.
He was born February 5, 1933 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Stephan and Anna Paralic Fedorko. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1950.
On October 5, 1957 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, John married Doris C. Dippold, who preceded him in death on July 15, 1997.
John is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Woll and her husband, Michael of Danville, PA and his two sons, Daniel Fedorko and his wife, Paula of Saylorsburg, PA and James Fedorko and his wife, D’Arcy of St. Marys. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Mitchell Woll of Raleigh, NC and Abbigail Woll and her husband, Zachary Meharey, of Durham, NC; one great-granddaughter, Eleanor Jane Meharey; and one brother, Francis “Fritz” Fedorko of Montoursville, PA.
In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by five sisters: Mary Fedorko, Agnes Waskiewicz, Helen Herzing, Sister Rose Fedorko, SSJ,and Theresa Fedorko; and four brothers: Andrew, Stephen, Michael, and Joseph Fedorko.
John was a member of St. Boniface Church where he was a Eucharistic minister and choir member as well as a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus 6252 in Kersey, PA.
As a master carpenter John was self-employed for much of his working life and worked hard to provide a good life for his family. He took great pride in his work and used his talents to create special gifts for and help out loved ones and friends.
In his early years, John worked as a part-time Projectionist in various movie theaters in the area, devoting more than 35 years to this craft. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and nephews. John also loved polka music and attended as many gatherings of the Northern PA Polka Boosters as he could.
A Mass of Christian Burial for John will be held in St. Boniface Church on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 11:00AM with Rev. Kevin Holland, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 9:30AM until the time of service in the St. Boniface Gathering Space.
