John D. Erskine, Jr., 63, Of Emporium, PA

John D. Erskine, Jr., 63, of Emporium, PA passed away at his residence on Friday morning, October 24, 2025.
He was born October 6, 1962, in Ceiba, Puerto Rico, a son of Ilvia (Robles) Spooner of Emporium and the late John Erskine, Sr.
John attended Cameron County High School and is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for several years at Motor Coil Manufacturing in Emporium, PA, a bellhop at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City and later a salesman, selling telecommunication devices.
John was known for his friendly nature and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, always making people feel welcome and at ease. He had a genuine warmth and sense of humor that drew others in and left a lasting impression on everyone who met him. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and easygoing spirit.
He is survived by three daughters, Renee M. Valenti (Matt) of Emporium, Alayna M. Erskine and Olivia M. Erskine of Beaufort, SC; three grandchildren, Forrester and Meera Smoker and Addison Vasko; a sister, Kimberly Hoffman of Mays Landing, NJ; a brother, Harry Erskine of Emporium and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shawnarae Callahan, Maternal Grandmother Fidela Velez, and his Uncle Felix Robles.
There will be No Visitation.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Paul S. Siebert officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Emporium VFW.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
