John C. McLaren, 82, of Lindholm Road, Mount Jewett, PA
John C. McLaren, 82, of Lindholm Road, Mount Jewett, PA passed away Sunday (Dec. 25, 2022) at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1940, in Johnstown. On Feb. 15, 1969, in Toledo, Ohio, he married Rose Switala, who survives.
John was a heavy equipment operator with the union in Toledo. John used to hunt in this area and he and Rose moved here after his retirement.
He was a life member of the Mount Jewett American Legion and the Mount Jewett VFW. He also was the Shriners, Zenobia Shrine, in Perrysburg, Ohio, the Free and Accepted Masons Harbor Light Lodge #746, the Mount Jewett Sportsman Club and the Wilcox Sportsman Club.
John had also served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Mary “Suzie” Karalfa of Toledo, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary and Dennis McLaren.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home on Thursday (Dec. 29) from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral ceremony will be conducted on Friday (Dec. 30) at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Pflieger, officiating. Burial and military honors will follow in Nebo Cemetery.
