Joanne M. Vecellio, 90, formerly of Rutherford Run, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the Bradford Manor.

She was born on July 16, 1934 in Bradford, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Rose Basile Magnella.

She was a 1952 graduate of the former St. Bernard School.

On February 5, 1955 in the St. Bernard Catholic Church; she married Leo L. Vecellio who preceded her in death on May 4, 2017.

She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church where she also sang in the choir.  She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club and the Bradford Ecumenical Home Auxiliary.  She enjoyed playing the piano, bowling, playing bridge and cooking and baking in her spare time.

Right out of high school, Joanne was employed at the Zippo Manufacturing Co. as George Blaisdell’s secretary.  After leaving Zippo she went on to work at the former FBC before returning to Zippo.  She then went on to work for the Bradford Hospital in Medical Records until her retirement.

She is survived by six children, John (Lisa) Vecellio of Cambridge Springs, David (Patty) Vecellio of Bradford, Rosemarie (Matt) Moran of Bradford, Teresa (Gary) Shembeda of Lewis Run, James (Mary Beth) Vecellio of Cyclone and Julie (Gary) Stuckey of Lewis Run; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Edward Walk, senior associate pastor as celebrant.

Burial and committal services will be in the St. Bernard Cemetery.
