Joan R. Cauley, a former resident of St. Marys, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 in Hudson, MA. She was born December 28, 1930, in St. Marys, PA, the daughter of the late Steve and Catherine Ashworth Rupprecht. In 2021, Joan decided to move closer to most of her family so she could enjoy watching her great-grandchildren grow up.
Joan leaves behind her six children: Kathleen (James Wheeler) of Richmond, VA; John (Ellen) of Shirley, MA; Gerard (Luisa) of Hudson, MA; Thomas (Maureen) of Westford, MA; James (Adriana) of Hopkinton, NH; and Jennifer of Hudson, MA. In addition to her children, she leaves behind her beloved grand and great-grandchildren: Max and Sarah, CJ and Natalie and their daughter Nora, Matt and Terri and their kids Torri, Anthony, and Lincoln, Ashley and Chris and their kids Jamie and Emma, Jason and Kendal, Nick, Erin and her fiancé Greg, Tim, Tonko, and Kristof. Her sisters Kathryn Distler of St. Marys, PA and Roberta Ryan (Michael) of Spring Hill, FL also survive her.
Joan was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1948. On November 25, 1954, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she married Bernard J. Cauley, who preceded her in death October 8, 1993. Joan stayed at home raising her kids and spoiling them with all of her homemade baked goods. In addition to baking, Joan spent her time crocheting afghans and hanging hand towels that she loved to gift to others. After the death of her husband, Joan spent many mornings doing water aerobics at the Country Club or Windfall Pines, attending daily mass at Queen of the World, and going to breakfast with the “breakfast bunch.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michaels Parish in Hudson, MA on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 9:00 am.
A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 10:30 am, with the Rev. Jeffery Noble officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
