Joan (Oviatt) Maynard, 84, passed away March 4, 2024, in Albemarle N.C., following a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born October 4, 1939, in Port Allegany the daughter of Stella Virginia (Reddington) Oviatt.

She was raised in Port Allegany and Coudersport and graduated from Coudersport High School, Class of 1957.
Joan and Thomas were married on October 11, 1957.

Beyond being devoted to raising her family, she was employed as a nurse’s aide, in retail, as a florist, and as a dental office receptionist. She was a longtime resident of Coudersport until moving to North Carolina in 2015.

She leaves her beloved husband of 66 years, Thomas; her sister Faith; her sons, Thomas (Lisa), Darrel, and Steven (Debra); six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one grandchild.

A private ceremony will be held.

A headstone honoring her life will be among the headstones of other family members at Sweden Hill Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor’s choosing.
