BRADFORD, PA/OLEAN, NY – Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS), which consists of hospital campuses, Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), is proud to announce the January 2024 Star Award winners.

Brett Murphey, a distribution tech in the materials management department, received the January Star Award at BRMC. He has been with the organization for almost five years, starting in February 2019.

“Brett is always helpful when any product is needed at the Pavilion. He is always available to assist any co-worker with questions they have, answering them courteously and professionally. Brett is upbeat all the time and frequently asks if additional help is needed,” stated his nomination. “He is timely and helping anywhere he is needed without fail. For example, during a recent power outage he was readily available to help move residents.”

Samantha Foster, a patient access representative in the admitting department, was awarded the January 2024 Star Award at OGH. She has been with the organization since May of 2022.

“Samantha is always so helpful and is a true testament of what a team player truly is. She’s willing to help anywhere and anyone she can. Her skillset is diverse and has the ability to cover in all areas of the registration department. Samantha’s demeanor is not only pleasant, but a calming force in stressful situations providing others with reassurance,” according to her nomination. “Samantha is friendly to patients and co-workers. We’re lucky to have her!”

The Star Award is presented monthly to an employee who demonstrates outstanding performance and inspires the same in others. Staff are nominated for exceptional customer satisfaction, continuous performance improvement, teamwork, communication, ownership/accountability and excellence through co-worker or patient nominations. The following were also nominated for Star Awards at BRMC: Laura Krivonyak, dual diagnosis; Amanda Wehler, RN, 3 east acute care. OGH nominees were: Vickie Clayson, subacute rehab; Cindy Davis, acute care floor 3; Dawn Dubois, RN, subacute rehab; Ann Earley, RN, acute care floor 3; Bridget Flannery, float pool; Gary Harvey, admitting; Alyssa Snyder, RN, acute care floor 3; Katie Weaver, RN, acute care floor 2.

Star award recipients receive a chamber of commerce gift certificate, additional paid time off, certificate of recognition as well as the star award parking spot.
