Jane E. Hugill, 77, of Seneca Falls, NY; Service Sunday in Port Allegany
SENECA FALLS, NY — Jane E. Hugill, 77, of Seneca Falls, NY passed away with her family by her side at Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
Jane was born on November 29, 1945, in Port Allegany PA, the daughter of the late Russell and Margaret (Jopling) Hugill.
She graduated from Port Allegany High School and went on to earn her degree at Bryant and Stratton College in Buffalo, NY. Following her studies, she headed to California to spend much of her adult life in Los Angeles and Hollywood. Jane’s career in California ranged from concert promotion to talent agencies, where she made connections with many celebrities. During this time, Jane’s faith in Christ was ignited and her relationship with the Lord would remain a source of strength throughout the rest of her life.
Jane eventually returned to her Pennsylvania roots to work for Pittsburgh Magazine and later, full circle, back to Port Allegany to work for the area’s local newspapers. In her final years, Jane relocated to Seneca Falls, NY, to reside with her niece Holly and family.
Jane was an avid traveler, lover of books, and a vocal fan of football. She loved music and attended many concerts and musical theater productions. Her cherished cats always had a special place in her heart and home.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Michele (Steve) Probert; granddaughter, Emalia Probert; nieces: Holly (Tom) Popp; Peggy (Joey) Majot; Becky Yaeger; Mary Jane Hugill; Kathy (Clinton) Krager; as well as many great-nieces and nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two siblings and their spouses: John (Jeanette) Hugill and Joann (Robert) Gardner; and a nephew-in-law: Richard Yaeger.
In keeping with her wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Port Allegany at her family’s convenience.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the Moose Lodge in Port Allegany on Sunday, (September 24, 2023) at 2:00 pm.
