Howard A. NIXON, Sr., 82, of Southampton, NJ, died Saturday, September 23, 2023 in Cambridge Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Moorestown, NJ.
Born July 30, 1941, in Mount Holly, NJ, he was the son of Howard G. and Pearl E. Nixon. He served honorably with the US Air National Guard from 1960-1964. On June 23, 1979, in Mount Holly, he married the former Susan J. Noden, who survives.
Howard was employed as Corporal of Police starting in 1965 for the Delaware Port Authority and worked for 27 years. He retired on January 2, 1992 and moved to Westfield, PA.
In 2015, Howard and Susan returned to New Jersey to be near family. He owned and operated Nixon’s Sharpening Service for many years in Burlington, NJ and Westfield, PA. He was a member of F.O.P. Penn Jersey Lodge #30, America Hose Co. & Emergency Squad in Mount Holly, Independent Fire Co. in Burlington, and Westfield Area Lions Club.
Surviving besides his wife, Susan, are: two children, Howard A. (Joanne) Nixon, Jr. and Tracy Lynn (Sean) Wright; two step-children, Richard (Robin) Murphy, Jr. and Colleen (John) Feras; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Walter H. Nixon; and a sister, Carol Elizabeth Nixon.
