Henry Hayes, Jr. (‘Pen’) of Cherry Springs, Pennsylvania

Henry Hayes, Jr. (‘Pen’) of Cherry Springs, Pennsylvania, passed on to be with the Lord on November 13th, 2025. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his immediate family who loved him dearly.
Henry was a beloved husband, father, and a friend to many who remember him as the “Mountaintop MacGyver.” It was always said, “If Pen can’t fix it, then it can’t be fixed.”
Henry is survived by his wife Janis Hayes of Cherry Springs, PA, his Daughter Patricia Keil and her husband Scott Keil, of Fort Lupton, CO, his son, Hank Hayes, of Enola, PA, and granddaughter Jenna of Elkton, Maryland. Lastly, his beloved dog “Stitch,” which him and Janis had many adventures with.
Henry was preceded in death by his mother and father, Henry Hayes, Sr. and his mother Elizabeth Hayes.
Henry was born on January 28th, 1943 in Ridley, PA. Henry graduated from Ridley Township High School in Ridley, PA, class of 1962. He worked for his father and uncle, Hayes Brother’s Greenhouse, for approximately 20 years in Media, Pennsylvania. It was then Henry decided to pursue his talent and start his own Taxidermy business. Henry managed his own business for 35 years before retiring, and moving to Cherry Springs, PA, with his wife Janis.
Henry was a friend to many who felt the kindness and support of his ability to fix anything. Henry and his wife of 62 years, Janis, was the apple of his eyes, and the love they both shared during this time, was filled with love, laugher, happiness, and the enjoyment of life together with God’s continued blessings.
As per his wishes, there will be no services. If you wish to make a donation in Henry’s name, he asked that donations be made to Teachers Pet Rescue in Coudersport, PA, or St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.
In conclusion, Henry’s life was one that impacted so many in ways that cannot be counted during the course of his lifetime. Henry is with our father in heaven, with peace and love consuming his time now.
