Helen L. West, 96, of Wellsboro
Helen L. West, 96, of Wellsboro, passed away, Friday, February 21, 2025, at Broad Acres. She was born on May 13, 1928, in Wellsboro, the daughter of the late Milton and Laura (Youmans) Peake. She married Walter H. West who preceded her in death in 1968.
Helen graduated from Charleston School, Class of 1946. She drove bus for Benedicts Bus Service for 34 years. She also was a former Tioga County Auditor, and she enjoyed working on the family farm in Charleston Twp. Helen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Westfield and a former member of the Mary Wells Chapter #452, Wellsboro. She enjoyed farming, Bingo, Baseball, Basketball, caring for her animals, and going to the Wellsboro Senior Center.
Helen is survived by a son, Robert M. (Kimberly) West of Mansfield; a sister, Carol Turner of Frederick, MD; several nieces and nephews, and her four grand kitties. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by a brother, Merrill Peake, and a sister, Beverly Vallejos.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects, Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 12-1:00pm at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street Wellsboro, a funeral service will follow at 1:00pm with Pastor Bill Baker, officiating. A private burial will be in Tioga County Memorial Park, Mansfield. The family suggest memorial contributions in Helen’s name be made to the Second Chance Animal Rescue, 725 Gee Rd., Tioga, PA 16946.
