Harold S. “Harv” Dowdle, 82, of 6434 Glen Hazel Road, Wilcox, PA passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday morning December 10, 2023.

Harv was born on June 9, 1941 in Cameron, TX a son to the late George and Josephine Slavik Dowdle. On June 10, 1966 at Camp Lejeune, NC he married Twyla J. Sidelinger and she survives.

Harv has lived in the Wilcox area since 1967 and graduated high school in Fairfax, VA. He was a member of the Wilcox Presbyterian Church and the Wilcox Fire Dep’t. Within the Fire Dept., Harv had been a past Assistant Chief and past Deputy Chief and was currently Captain of the Fire Police.

Harv enjoyed spending time with his family and his fire dept. family and was always ready to help any member of either. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time researching on his computer.

Harv was a Vietnam Era Marine Corps Vet serving as a Corporal with the Command Co., HQ Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, FMF at Camp Lejeune, NC

Harv has worked for Domtar as a maintenance mechanic for the past 43 years.

In addition to his wife Twyla at home, Harv is survived by his two children, Dawn Dowdle-Holm of St. Marys and Dan Dowdle and his wife Amy of Reidsville, NC and his grandchildren Maria Holm, Thea Dowdle and Rebekah “Becca” Dowdle. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Isabella, Lillyanna, Cameron and Autumn Ring and a sister, Joan, Mrs. James Gura of Dallas, TX and brother-in-law Gerald Sidelinger and his wife Becky of Wilcox and Sisiters-In-Law Beverly Frye of Ridgway and Judie Sidelinger of St. Marys.

Funeral services and interment for Harold “Harv” Dowdle will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg.
