HAMILTON-GIBSON’S WINTER THEATRE ARTS CAMP PERFORMANCES OF “CATS” ARE THIS THURSDAY, APRIL 13 AND THIS SATURDAY, APRIL 15 IN THE COOLIDGE THEATRE
Hamilton-Gibson’s 14-day free Winter Theatre Arts Camp will end with Pay-What-You-Can performances of “Cats” for the public at 7 p.m. this Thursday, April 13 and at 2:30 p.m. this Saturday, April 15.
The performances are in the Coolidge Theater at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.
People can pay at the door to see the Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon shows.
“The campers are from areas around Tioga County and one is from Galeton,” said Thomas Putnam, who is directing “Cats.” Community members are singing some of the solos.
“All of the characters in the play are cats of various ages and sizes, each with a definitely unique personality,” he said.
“This adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s award-winning hit musical is specially tailored to give our fourth through tenth grade cast members an exciting and rewarding experience,” said Putnam.
“The campers have been working hard and will demonstrate the skills they’ve learned, from choreography to how to project their voices when speaking and singing and how to create a character, including making their own costumes,” he said.
Taylor Nickerson and Heather Galbraith choreographed the show. Assisting with the camp are Tara Gordon and Jenna Gordon.
