Hamilton-Gibson Productions Offers One More Weekend of Night of the Living Dead, Live! November 1 and 2 at 7:30pm
Hamilton-Gibson Productions offers one more weekend of Night of the Living Dead, Live!, a show that pays homage to George Romero’s classic 1968 film Night of the Living Dead. The play depicts the storyline of the original film, and then takes the audience on a journey through multiple “what-if” scenarios that are both thought provoking and hilarious.
Some of the actors play multiple roles in this production. One of them is Gigi Bush, Philadelphia born and now a native of Wellsboro who shares, “I love the horror genre and the fact that this [is based on] a movie that is one of its kind.” For those who think the production might be too scary she says, “It’s not too gory, and it’s really funny.” Mariah Texter, recently seen in this summer’s production of Puffs, also plays two characters in this show and notes the unique challenge of playing two people she describes as opposites. Texter points out, “It’s a thinking game before you hop onstage”.
Ian Brennan of Wellsboro plays the role of Harry Cooper who he characterizes as the “cowardly and weasley” member of the group who prefers to hide in the basement to avoid the zombies. “You love to hate the guy” says Ian, “He’s pretty despicable, but I’m also trying to get a laugh out of the audience. The cast of this show wants to make sure that audiences enjoy the comedy of this show along with the drama. Brennan shares, “If you are a fan of horror and comedy, this is for you.”
Other locals round out the cast of this unique show, both newcomers to HG and those you have seen in recent productions. Brad Goodwin has created the set, and Assistant Director Sarah Lawton has done the lighting design. Director Noyes Lawton shares, “The show has a lot to offer – it is entertaining because it is both thoughtfully crafted and full of humor,” he adds, “Folks should also be aware that there are gunshot sound effects and strobe lights in the show.”
This production is sponsored by Janet and Lee Bellinger, Susan and Jon Griggs, and Nickerson Enterprises, Inc.. Two more performances will take place November 1 and 2 at 7:30pm at the Warehouse Theater, 3 Central Ave, Wellsboro, PA. Tickets are $16 for adults and $8 for under 18, and are available at HGP.Booktix.com or by calling 570-724-2079.Hamilton-Gibson Productions offers one more weekend of Night of the Living Dead, Live!,
