GALETON BOROUGH COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 9, 2023
The regular meeting of the Galeton Borough Council was held this date in the Municipal building with the following members present: Joe Petrencsik, Doug Droppa, Darrell Jackson, DJ Fuller and Denny Dean. Not present was Ron Tarabori.
Others present were Foreman-Joe Cimino; Solicitor-Mike Plummer; Officer Yoder; Joey Cimino; Marc Mosher; Citizen-Kristin Bierley; and Borough Secy-Andrea Caracciolo
President Petrencsik called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM followed by the Pledge to the Flag.
Minutes
A motion was made by Doug Droppa, seconded by DJ Fuller approving the minutes of the 7/12/23 meeting as presented. All were in favor, motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report
A motion was made by Doug Droppa, seconded by Denny Dean approving the treasurer’s report for July/August 2023 as presented. All were in favor, motion carried.
Citizens Participation
Kristin attended the meeting just to observe but did have a question on blighted properties in town, especially the three on Germania St. It was explained to her how they were all tied up together with a bank and IRS. The Borough’s hands are tied at the moment.
Committee Reports
Darrell reported on the meeting with Gale Hose Ambulance Co. He said that they have enough funds to hire an EMT for the last quarter of this year to see how it goes and then are hoping to get a certain millage from the Borough and townships that are involved for 2024. The Council has a lot of questions and would like some Gale Hose representatives to attend the September Council meeting.
A discussion was once again held on the Sherman St. parking issue on the block between Hammond Ave. and Cherry St. It will be looked into further.
Borough Foreman
Joe reported that the Pine St. project was 99% completed. It was noted that two catch basins at the other end of Pine St. need replaced, they are all broken and caved in.
A motion was made by Doug Droppa, seconded by DJ Fuller to purchase 4 pre-fab catch basins for Pine St. and two spare. All were in favor, motion carried.
Permission was requested to look for prices on a new pickup. The dump truck is paid off and the pickups are both in need of replacement and are both quite old. Quotes will be received by budget time in October.
Ordinances
A motion was made by Doug Droppa, seconded by DJ Fuller to advertise Ordinance 379 of 2023 creating the position in the Borough of Code Enforcement Officer. All were in favor, motion carried.
Old Business
It was noted that a pre-application meeting is scheduled on Aug. 15th for the Low Volume/Dirt & Gravel Grant for upper Germania St. We are looking to put in all new storm drains and blacktop the road. The grant, if received, will not be until 2024/2025.
Bills
A motion was made by Doug Droppa, seconded by Darrell Jackson to pay the bills for August 2023. All were in favor, motion carried.
**At this time 8:01 PM, an executive session was called to discuss real estate in the Borough.
**At 8:23 PM the meeting was reconvened.

A motion was made by Denny Dean, seconded by Doug Droppa to adjourn. All were in favor, motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:24 PM.
