FRIDAY, NOV. 14 DISCIPLE OF THE GARDEN TO PERFORM
This Friday, November 14th, Disciple of the Garden to perform the Grunge And Rock Songs of Chris Cornell, Soundgarden and Audioslave.
At 7:30 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 14 in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro, the five-member tribute band Disciple of The Garden will perform the 1990s grunge, hard rock hits, and select deep cuts made famous by Christopher John Boyle, better known by his stage name Chris Cornell, and two of the bands he founded and fronted, Soundgarden in 1984 and Audioslave in 2001.
With his unparalleled voice, poignant lyrics, and groundbreaking contributions to rock music, Cornell is a lasting legend. Last Saturday, Nov. 8, Soundgarden was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles with the induction honoring both the band and its late frontman, Chris Cornell who passed away eight and a half years ago on May 18, 2017 at the age of 52.
Rolling Stone magazine praised Cornell as “one of the greatest rock vocalists of his generation,” citing his powerful, four-octave, vocal range, songwriting abilities, and charismatic stage presence and recognizing his impact on the grunge and rock music scenes through his work with Soundgarden and Audioslave.
Cornell was best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for these two rock bands, winning Grammy Awards with them. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his song “The Keeper” from the movie “Machine Gun Preacher” and for an Academy Award for his song “You Know My Name” from the James Bond movie “Casino Royale.”
Members of Disciple of The Garden are: Joe Leo (vocals/guitar); Ronny Vidal (drums); Vic Pena (bass); Eddie Evelyn (guitar) and Chris “Fury” Fiore (guitar).
In celebrating Cornell’s legacy, Disciple of the Garden channels the raw power and emotional depth of his iconic music, from his successful solo career with albums like “Euphoria Morning” and “Carry On,” to his years with Soundgarden with hits like “Black Hole Sun,” “Spoonman,” and “Outshined“ from that band’s 1994 studio album “Superunknown” and popular songs from their five other studio albums, two live albums, EPs and singles, and “Like a Stone”, “Be Yourself” and others from the three albums he recorded as Audioslave’s singer before that band’s breakup in early 2007.
Soundgarden’s active years were 1984–1997 and 2010–2019. The band disbanded in 1997 and then reformed in 2010. Following Cornell’s death, it disbanded in 2019.
With meticulous attention to detail, Disciple of the Garden recreates the energy and emotive essence that made Cornell’s music so influential and helped define the grunge movement of the 1990s. This tribute band allows fans to relive the magic of Cornell’s extraordinary talent, his captivating stage presence, and the sheer intensity of his performances.
Disciple of the Garden strives to bring the same intensity and authenticity to the stage, keeping Cornell’s spirit alive through every note and lyric while paying homage to the man whose music continues to inspire and move millions around the world.
The doors will open for this concert at 7 p.m. Tickets, if available, will be sold in the Deane Center lobby beginning at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14.
