Florence N. “Nancy” Shuey, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys and formerly of Silver Creek Terrace and First Avenue, Johnsonburg
Florence N. “Nancy” Shuey, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys and formerly of Silver Creek Terrace and First Avenue, Johnsonburg, died early Sunday morning, December 11, 2022 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born on January 2, 1931 in Johnsonburg, a daughter to the late Joseph J. and Veronica Dworsky Zelechoski. On October 7, 1953 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, she married William T. “Bill” Shuey. He preceded him in death on October 15, 1996.
A lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, Nancy was a 1949 graduate of Johnsonburg High School. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church and the Johnsonburg Senior Center. She had recently traveled the Middle East and Europe visiting Kuwait, Lebanon and Poland as well as other countries. She loved spending time with her family and her many grand and great-grandchildren. Nancy loved to play cards and make visits to the casino.
Nancy enjoyed being a homemaker, and had worked at many local grocery and neighborhood stores over the years including Deibler’s in Wilcox, “The Polish Store”, Notarianni’s, the Comet and Nelson’s.
Nancy is survived by her children; William J. Shuey and his wife Donna of Johnsonburg, Joseph T. Shuey of Johnstown, Janet, Mrs. Andrew Redmond of Ridgway and Diane, Mrs. Bart Szymanski of Rasselas. Nancy is the grandmother of Carrie, Jamie, Sara, Ginny, Kelly, Jenna, Katie, Andrea, Alex, Robert, Adam, John, Billy, Matthew and Michael and 30 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Erma Zelechoski.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy is predeceased by a great-grandson Nathan Singer, brothers; Edward, Stanley, Steven and Robert Zelechoski and sisters; Mary Ann Stewart and Agnes Zelechoski.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Florence N. “Nancy” Shuey will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg on Wednesday December 14, 2022 at 10 AM with Fr. David Wilson, Pastor as Celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel, 401 Chestnut Street Johnsonburg, Pa on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
