The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library is proud to announce a special event in honor of Native American Heritage Month: Legends of the Indigenous Peoples of America presented by Native American storyteller and performer Lancequiver Sequoyah White Eagle. Join us on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 1 PM to 2 PM, for an enriching and captivating storytelling experience that is free and open to all ages!
This wonderful event is being brought to you through generous funding from the Cameron County Community Chest.
Lancequiver Sequoyah White Eagle, a member of the Western Band of Cherokee and the Rappahannock peoples, is a seasoned storyteller whose performances breathe life into Indigenous legends from across the country. More than just tales, these stories have been passed down through generations to impart deep cultural wisdom, lessons in morality, beliefs, and sometimes even regional histories. Through his powerful performances, Lance White Eagle brings these ancient narratives to the modern world, allowing audiences to connect with the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous Americans.
As a respected expert in Indigenous American history, culture, and legends, Lance White Eagle has performed at numerous prestigious events, including programs at Penn State University’s anthropology department, traditional Indigenous dance at Yale University, and consultations for academic publications. His dynamic storytelling has also been featured at various colleges, pow-wows, and on national news programs, showcasing the beauty and depth of Native American traditions and histories.
