Evelyn L. Beers, 93, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Elk Towers, St. Marys, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on December 25, 1931 in Daguscahonda, a daughter of the late Burton and Lillie Wolff Himes.

She was married to Leo Zuchowski, who preceded her in death. She then married Gerald “Bud” Nichols, who also preceded her in death.

Evelyn was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and worked for a number of years at the Royal Inn in Ridgway. She enjoyed baking and making candy. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling, and camping with her family. Always an avid crafter, Evelyn made beautiful blankets, which she loved gifting to her family.

She is survived by two children; Lillian Truitt and her husband Gale of Delmont, PA and Samuel Nichols and his wife Mary Ann of St. Marys; and by 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her first and second husbands, Evelyn was preceded in death by two sons; Leo Zuchowski, Jr. and Francis Zuchowski, by three sisters; Lenora King, Dorothy Neubert, and Virginia Zuchowski, by one brother; LeRoy Himes, and by a grandson; Shawn Truitt.

A Funeral Service for Evelyn L. Beers will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Lynch-Green Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association or to the Elk Haven Nursing Home Activities Fund.
