Ellen J. Wozneak (Joan), 88, of Warren, PA, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 13, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born September 23, 1935, in Albion, PA., to the late Marion Rossiter and Maurice Huston. She attended one-room schools in her elementary years, graduating from Albion Area High School in 1953, now known as Northwestern.
In 1956, she graduated from Hamot Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse in multiple medical facilities in Warren, PA., retiring from Warren State Hospital in 1995. Prior to her nursing career, she lived with her grandmother, Nan Rossiter, working on the family farm, also caring for her great-grandfather and children fostered by her grandmother.
Ellen met and married her husband, Theodore (Ted) Wozneak in 1956. They had 64 wonderful years together.
She is survived by four children: Gregory (Kelly) of Crozet, VA., Joseph of Kane, PA., Lisa (Peter) To and Theodore Jr. all of Warren, PA., three grandchildren – Drs. Laura (Sean) of Williamsburg, VA., Alex (Kim) of Colorado Springs, CO., and Matthew of Crozet, VA., one brother, Russell Grate of Fleming, CO., several nieces, and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Sr., her parents, Marion and stepfather, Lyle Grate, grandparents, Laura “Nan” and Earl Rossiter, her favorite uncle, Max Rossiter, and Stephen To, who was like another son; three sisters, Joyce Bowers, Laura Jane Falkerts, and Judy D. Grate, three brothers, Robert Huston, Royce “Buck” Huston, Ronald Grate.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Richard C. Tomasone, Pastor, officiating.
