Elaine R. Meyers, 90, of Ulysses, formerly of Orchard Park, NY and Bolivar, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in the Hart Comfort House, Wellsville, NY.
Born on Friday, November 3, 1933 in Buffalo, NY, she was a daughter of Gordon E. and Ruth B. Farley Visseau. On August 8, 1953 in Washington, DC, she married Roxie G. Meyers, who passed away on June 30, 2011.
Elaine was a graduate of South Park High School in South Buffalo and attended Jamestown Community College in Olean, NY.
Elaine enlisted in the US Navy, served honorably and attained the rank of Seaman First Class.
She was a contract administrator for many years for Dresser-Rand in Wellsville, NY, retiring at age 62 ½ after 23 ½ years of service. For several years she also served as the Village of Bolivar Judge while being employed at Dresser-Rand.
Elaine was a member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530, a member of the NYS Magistrates Association, a charter member of the Women’s Memorial in Washington, DC, a former member of Star of the East Chapter 109 in Bolivar, and a former member of the Wellsville Lions Club in Wellsville, NY. She loved to travel.
Elaine is survived by two grandsons, Cody Meyers and Gordon Meyers, both of Buffalo, NY; her beloved friend, Mary Jo Lennon of Hamburg, NY; a nephew; and several grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband who was a retired NYS Trooper, Elaine was predeceased by a daughter, Lynn M. Roshia; a son Robert E Meyers; and a brother, Robert Visseau.
In keeping with Elaine’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Elaine’s name may be made to Hart Comfort House, 141 East State Street, Wellsville, NY 14895.
Elaine entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
