Edward L. Stebick, 83, of St. Marys, PA
Edward L. Stebick, 83, of St. Marys, PA passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
He was born September 14, 1940, in St. Marys, son of the late Alfred Stebick, Sr. and Geraldine Kreckle Stebick. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1958. He was employed at Powdered Metal Products for 42 years and was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a sacristan at the church and was a devout and loving Christian throughout his life.
On February 4, 1961, in Sacred Heart Church, Ed married Patricia “Patty” Vollmer. They were blessed to share 62 years of marriage and were very much looking forward to celebrating their 63rd anniversary in a few days.
In addition to his loving wife, Ed is survived by his children: Blaine Stebick (Cynthia) of St. Marys, Barb McDermott (John) of Vandergrift, PA, Matt Stebick (Kim) of Waterford, PA, and Nick Stebick, (Brooke) of Ohioville, PA; eight grandchildren: DJ Bucher (Teryn), Maggie Dylewski (Gabe), Beau McDermott (Destiny), Kate, Elise, Kevin, Ben, and Chris Stebick; three great-grandchildren: Landyn, Finley, and Coleson Bucher; and a sister, Christine “Teenie” Stebick.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by three sisters: Nadine Facchine, Kathleen Eckert, and Joan Herzing; and three brothers: Leroy, Alfred, Jr., and Kenneth Stebick; a niece, Stephanie Lecker-Garner, and a nephew, Donny Stebick.
Ed had the bluest eyes that twinkled with devilment. His charm lived in his love of teasing everyone he knew and he certainly was accomplished at it which resulted in laughter everywhere he went. He was truly a fun-loving guy. Ed enjoyed polka music, working with his boys, and camping in the wilderness. He was a friend to all and if one were to ever pass by the house, they would certainly expect a wave from Ed sitting on the porch. There was no place like home for Ed, especially when his children and grandchildren were around. He, along with Patty, took great pride in their family and instilled the value of an education in them as their four children all graduated from Penn State and each having an impact in their respective fields as engineers. Family was above everything else in Ed’s life but he sure seemed happiest while mowing his lawn and “surveying his kingdom”. His Taft Road Kingdom was home to 25 years of road-parties that were loved and enjoyed by all who attended.
