Edward C. Palmer, 90, of 170 Toby Road, Kersey, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
He was born March 26, 1934, in Dagus Mines, son of the late Carl H. and Dorothy Green Palmer. He was a graduate of Kersey High School and employed by Stackpole Carbon Company.
On April 19, 1954, in Cumberland, MD, Ed married his high school sweetheart, the late Clara E. Lance, who preceded him in death on September 25, 2022. They raised a large and loving family with whom both loved to spend time. Both were active members of the United Methodist Church of Kersey.
He is survived by two daughters, Donita Mosier of Kersey and Dori Palmer of Virginia; three sons: Daniel Palmer of St. Marys, Damon Palmer (Michelle) of DuBois, and Douglas Palmer (Carol) of Brockport; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; sisters: June Gschwendter, Joyce Anderson, and Karen Schatz; a brother, Keith Palmer (Connie); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ed was preceded in death by two sons, Darrell and Dean Palmer; a sister, Thelma Winslow; and two brothers, John “Bud” Palmer and James Palmer.
Ed loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and maintained a beautiful and bountiful vegetable garden. Ed was very handy, having built his own home and could fix anything. He was never without a car project ongoing and his children and grandchildren have fond memories of helping with projects in the garage. He and Clara loved to travel and made many memories on road trips and camping adventures with their family.
Funeral and committal services will be held privately by Ed’s family.
Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choosing.
