Edith M. Michielson, 96, of Smethport, passed away Thursday (August 22, 2024) at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport.

She was born February 8, 1928 in Bath, NY, the daughter of Paul and Mabel (Benjamin) Hess. She was first married to Ivan Bickford, then to George Clark, and lastly to Conrad Michielson. She was preceded in death by all three husbands.

Edith attended Farmers Valley and Smethport area schools. She had worked for Reed’s Jewelers in Olean, NY and retired from the McKean County Courthouse in the domestic relations department.

She is survived by:

Three daughters: Georgia Starkweather of Elverson, PA, Gloria Calhoun of Smethport, and Paula (Jay) Slobodnyak of Pittsburgh, PA

One son: Richard (Vickie) Bickford of Farmers Valley, PA

Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, along with several great-great grandchildren

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, from 10AM to 12 Noon at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, where funeral services will begin at noon with the Rev. Max Simms, Pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in the McKean Memorial Park, Lewis Run.
