Early Morning House Fire in Westfield
Crary Hose Company
11/17/23 @ 07:25, Crary Hose, Clymer Hose, Knoxville-Deerfield, Sabinsville Ambulance and Elkland with RIT, were dispatched to 230 Walnut St to the scene of a structure fire.
Chief 5-30 Mack arrived first on scene and reported that the home was well-involved, all occupants had safely self-evacuated. Engine 5-3 with crew of 6 arrived on scene at the 8 minute mark and quickly brought a 2 1/2″ hand line into service, darkening the A side of the blaze.
A second alarm was struck at 07:39. Tanker 5-5 provided water until a hydrant supply was acquired by Engine 6-2 and 16-2. Crews from both units joined the crew from 5-3 in the attack, putting 4 hand lines in operation from all sides to bring the fire under control by 09:15. Rescue 3-8 provided RIT and assisted in attack and overhaul.
Additional assistance and apparatus were provided by Harrison, Chatham, Ulysses, Galeton, Middlebury Fire Departments, and Ackley Construction. Sabinsville Ambulance provided medical stand-by and monitoring of responders.
Cover and stand-by assignments were served by Tioga, Wellsboro, and Troopsburg Fire Departments. Units worked on scene into the afternoon. Thank you to all who responded.
