Early Morning Fire Damages Olean Home

City of Olean Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 623 Seneca Avenue in Olean early Wednesday morning. Firefighters received the alarm at 0236am. Engine 41 arrived within 4 minutes of the alarm and found heavy fire in the rear of the structure. 1 3/4″ handline was pulled to begin extinguishing the blaze. Firefighters performed a search of the structure for any residents still inside, however all were evacuated prior to firefighters arrival. Fire had followed the balloon frame construction through the second floor and into the attic. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze. There was a report that one occupant did seek medical attention and was transported to Olean General Hospital by Trans AM Ambulance. No firefighters were injured. City of Olean Fire Investigators are on the scene working to determine a cause of this fire.
