DUKE CENTER MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
(MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania; December 14, 2023): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that the Duke Center man convicted of Rape of a Child and other crimes last week has pled guilty to possessing child pornography in another case during a status conference held today at the McKean County Courthouse.
He was scheduled for trial on the case for next week.
Sebastian VanCamp was charged by Trooper Robert Whyel of the Pennsylvania State Police with Possessing Child Pornography.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received cybertips of suspected child pornography from December, 2022 to March, 2023 and they forwarded the tips to the Pennsylvania State Police – Computer Crime Unit.
Following investigation by Trooper Whyel, over 1,000 images and/or videos of child pornography were found on Vancamp’s devices. Vancamp pled guilty to Possessing 1,245 images and/or videos depicting child pornography of pre-pubescent children, many of those also depicting indecent contact.
Sentencing for child pornography cases is enhanced based on the number of images, if the children depicted are prepubescent, and if indecent contact is depicted. Following Vancamp’s conviction last week of Rape of a Child under 13 and other sex crimes, he was ordered to undergo a sexually violent predator assessment which takes 90 days to complete. Sentencing in that case was set for March 14. In the child pornography case, Vancamp is also required to undergo the sexually violent predator assessment. Sentencing on that case will occur on the same day as his other case.
