Douglas M. Koenig of Maple Avenue, Allegany, NY passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Buffalo VA following a short illness.
Doug was born on November 25, 1962, in Rochester and was the son of Donald G. and Louise Williams Koenig.
Doug was a 1980 graduate of Salamanca High School. He enlisted and served in the US Army for 3 years. Doug worked at several restaurants as a Chef in Rochester before moving to Olean where he continued to work as a Chef at the Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca for 10 years. Doug was currently working at Home Depot. Doug was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Webster and the Knights Templar in Rochester. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
Doug is survived by his mother, Louise W. Koenig of Allegany, his sister Sharon L. (James) Dry of Williamsville, two nieces; Samantha K. (Adam) Jean of Webster and Abigail L. (Michael) Rademacher of Lexington, SC.
Doug was predeceased by his father, Donald G. Koenig on July 16, 1998, and his stepmother, Patricia Koenig on December 17, 2006.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at which time a memorial service will be held beginning with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 ritual team. The Rev. Kim E. Rossi, Pastor of the Bethany Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery at a later time.
