Donald James Totten, Jr., 72, of 4088 Cortland Drive, Davenport Florida, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
Born on November 15, 1951, in Cuba New York, he was the oldest son of Donald James Totten Sr., and Jeanne (Beyer) Totten. He was married to his wife of 22 years, Karen (Burgett) Totten, who survives.
Donald graduated from Cuba High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics and Computer Science from SUNY Brockport, and later, a Master of Science (MS) in Computational Science, also from SUNY Brockport. He had a long career as a Software Engineer and Data Analyst.
Over the years he was an avid lover of the outdoors and being active. He enjoyed cycling, running, canoeing, hunting and camping. Donald was a generous and giving person. After retiring, he spent much of his time volunteering for various organizations and charitible activities, and taking care of his beloved “puppies”, Ulla and Mr. Theo.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Joseph Totten, Gregory Totten, Michael Totten, his step-daughter Eleanor Thomas, his brother Mark Totten and his 4 sisters, Kathy Okay, Debbie Haynes, Denise Luzier, and Joan Totten. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Donald’s life will be held at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba NY, on Saturday, July 20, from 1-3 PM.
