District Attorney & Police Chief Issue Statement on Fatal ATA Bus/Bicycle Crash in Bradford on Wednesday
(MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania; June 8, 2023): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer and City of Bradford Police Chief Michael Ward responded to a request from the Era in regards to the ATA/Bicycle crash that occurred in the City on June 7.
City of Bradford Police along with City of Bradford Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene on North Center and Pleasant Streets. The investigation is being completed by Bradford City Police.
The investigation was assisted by the availability of a security camera at a nearby residence that captured the entire event. Officers secured the footage early on in the investigation. The video shows the decedent operating a pedal bike and the bike entering an intersection without stopping at a stop sign. The video shows that, at the same time, the ATA bus is proceeding on its path and the two collide.
Out of respect for the family, we will not identify the decedent. He was taken to BRMC and was transferred to an out of state hospital. No charges have been filed in regards to the incident but no final determination will be made until the officers review all evidence and complete the investigation.
