Dec. 6 – Music for the Advent and Christmas Season, noon, Harriett B. Wick Chapel, University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Alden Wright, director of music and organist at Christ Church Episcopal in Pittsford, N.Y., will play the Sarah B. Dorn Organ. Wright previously served as organ scholar at Truro Cathedral in Cornwall, England, and holds a Master of Music degree in organ performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. Free
Dec. 12 – Season’s Readings, 11 a.m., Harriett B. Wick Chapel, University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. The Friends of Hanley Library present Dr. Don Ulin, professor of English, reading from “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants” by Robin Wall Kimmerer. The chapter from which Ulin will read is “Witch Hazel” and is about a Christmas season during which Kimmerer and her family helped an elderly neighbor fulfill a dream of returning once more to her family home. Free.
